Aussie nails Monday - Stripes: Easter pastel stripes

Monday again!!!
It doesn't feel like Monday. Today was a holiday here in South Australia so i spent the day inside in the air con swatching and doing this mani as it was 40 degrees outside today!

This weeks theme is Stripes.

I went with something pastel because i wanted to tie it in with Easter coming up soon. I really love what i came up. I really didn't want to take it off!

I started off with 5 of my favourite pastels from the Face of Australia collection, Pastels, which they released towards the end of last year. Post here.

I used striping tape to achieve this look by taping off the parts i wanted to show through before using the same pastels, with a different colour on each nail. I also did varying widths on each nail.

Face of Australia Pastels collection: Swatches and review

Hi all!

Summer has hit Australia hard over the last few days..... well where i am anyway, not that i am complaining because i love the warm/hot weather, but it means i am late in posting these awesome polishes that were great for the Spring weather, not that we can't wear them still but i'm so looking forward to wearing more bright colours!!

As soon as i saw that Face of Australia had released a Pastel collection, i was all over that shit. I raced out to Kmart and bought the whole set. The pastels collection consists of 8 polishes, 6 cremes, 1pearl and 1 shimmer.... that's right, bet you didn't think there was a shimmer in there! But don't get too excited, it's so faint it's barely noticeable.

Anyway, onto the swatches...... Pic heavy i might add =)
These are in alphabetical order as that is what my computer decides to do...

After Dinner Mint - A pastel mint green. I love mint greens and this is no exception! Perfect in two coats.

Boy 'n Berries - A Lavender pastel. Two coats.

Castles On A Cloud - Lilac-grey Pastel.... with shimmer. This is the one with shimmer. In the light it is noticeable in the bottle but once on the nail, it just seemed to disappear! Click the images to make large and you can see it slightly. This was two coats.

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy - A bright?? pastel Yellow. If you can even have a bright pastel.... This is it. Probably my favourite yellow colour to date!! Wasn't the easiest to apply, just like a lot of yellows but this yellow is awesome and i can see myself wearing it alot! This was three coats.

Have Your Cupcake & Eat It Too - Lilac Pink pastel. This is also one of my favourites. This was two coats.

I'll Take You to the Candy Shop - My least favourite colour from the collection. Very soft pearly pink. Not really as streaky IRL as the pics show. This was three coats.

Once in a Blue Moon - Soft Eggshell Blue. Awesome colour. Two coats.

Would you like some Orange Sherbet? My second least favourite from the collection. I was really on a good streak with oranges until i hit this one! It's not bad but i'm not sure i like it with my skin tone. This was three coats.

Overall, I'm so so on this collection There are 5 i absolutely love and will wear again but the other 3 i don't like. I can live with that though, we can't like everything. I was disappointed with Castle on a Cloud as i really thought that would stand out the most to me with that awesome shimmer but it just wasn't there =( I think that disappointed the colour full stop for me as it looks awesome in the bottle.
My picks: After Dinner Mint, Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy, Boy 'n Berries, Once in a Blue Moon & Have your Cupcake & Eat It Too.

These were NOT sent for review. I paid for these myself.

Face of Australia - Barbados Collection - The last two.

Hi guys! Today i bring you, not one but two polishes from the Face of Australia Barbados collection. These are the last two i have to show. I thought i'd do them both in the same post as i thought you'd get a little bored by now. lol. These two are my favourites from the collection and that's why i left them til last (as i do!)

Let's Go Scuba Diving!

Let's Go Scuba Diving! is Teal Green with lots of shimmer! It applied well and was opaque in two coats. Topped off with one coat of SV. Looks how stunning this is! This is definitely one to own if you could only pick one from the collection.

Bright Lights, Pink City.

Bright Lights, Pink City is a light sheer-ish pink with lots of yellow gold shimmer. This was as sheer as Another Daiquiri Please? and needed three coats. Depending on how you like it, you could have used a fourth but thought this was enough for me. You could only see a very small amount of VNL in real life. This was topped off with one coat of SV.

My thoughts: I really liked this collection. It has a bit of everything in there - Sheer Jelly to metallic foils and awesome shimmers. I do think however, this collection was released a bit late. I think these are awesome Summer/Autumn colours. Here in Australia we are out of summer, now into Autumn and Winter is closing in very fast. I picked this collection up mid March (autumn) and it was the first time i had seen the collection with it's very full display, so it hadn't been out for long. Not to worry, these are awesome!

Which is your favourite colour? and did you pick any up in the Big W sale?

See you soon guys!

Face of Australia - Party at the Gap!

Hi all! Sorry, tonight's post is going to be quick.
Here is number six out of eight from the Barbados collection. This is Party at the Gap!

Party at the Gap is a Charcoal Grey with silver shimmer. It applied well just like all the others have so far. One coat of SV followed. Mind the "bald" spot on my index finger, i dinged it =(

Have a great night!
See you tomorrow!

Face of Australia - Another Daiquiri Please?

Hi Ladies!
You guessed it! I have another polish from the Face of Australia Barbados collection to show you.
This is Another Daiquiri Please? (and yes please! Love Daiquiri's!)

Undercover/Inside

ADP is a sheer pinky-red Jelly! The only jelly in the collection. This was three coats and you can still see a little bit of VNL. You wouldn't want any more coats though as it's pretty thick to start with. Might be good for a one coat quick layer on top of another polish to give it a little bit of sparkle. One coat of SV top coat. A nice summery polish but too bad we are now heading into winter. I really think these colours and this collection just came out a tad too late here in Aus!

Outside, Overcast

Hope you enjoy this swatch. Don't forget to enter my giveaway HERE... you still have plenty of time though.
See you tomorrow!

Face of Australia - You Blue Me Away!

Hi again!
I'm back with another polish from the Face of Australia Barbados collection. After today's post, we will be half way through, yay! So Today, i bring you......

You Blue Me Away.

You Blue Me Away is a metallic blue foil with lots of silver. More foil than the others. You could get away with one coat of this if you were careful but i did two coats for photo's. Topped with one coat of SV. This would be great for stamping too i would imagine! Application was a breeze! (lol, pun intended)
Again, these were taken the best i can under the crappy overcast weather.

Also, Don't forget to enter my Giveaway HERE, if you haven't already! This polish is in the mix(along with Orange You Glad You Came?) You won't be disappointed!

See you tomorrow!

Face of Australia - I Like to Mauve It!

Hi Lovies!
Today i have another Face of Australia polish to show you today! This is I Like to Mauve It.

I Like to Mauve It is a... Mauve purple with lots of shimmer, but the foil kind of shimmer you saw in Calypso Gold not like the flash of shimmer in Orange You Glad You Came?. I liked this more than i thought i would it's a tad more purply than it's showing here. It applied well and this was only two coats compared to the last two you've seen so far. I wasn't lazy this time, i added one coat of SV.

Unfortunately, due to the ever changing crappy weather we are having at the moment, by the time i came to swatch this the sun had basically disappeared! Boo!

Am i the only one that ever gets flash-backs to this song when i hear the words "I like to move it" lol

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
See you next time!

Face of Australia - Orange you Glad You Came?

Morning all! I have another awesome polish from the Face of Australia Barbados collection today! I have been on a good streak with oranges lately, and this one is no exception.

Shade.

Sunlight.

Orange You Glad You Came? is a light to medium orange with a beautiful yellow gold shimmer. Applied well. This one wasn't as thick as Calypso Gold but it still needed three coats for opacity. I got lazy and didn't add a top coat to this one before taking photo's. Looks awesome anyway!

Full Sunlight.

Look at that awesome shimmer!

Have an awesome weekend everyone!
See you later skaters!

Face of Australia - Calypso Gold!

First of all, Welcome to my new followers! Hope you like what i have to show on my blog and i'd love for you to stick around =).

I have the new Face of Australia Barbados collection to show you, i won't be doing it in my normal 2 part series, i'll be doing one polish each day for eight days. Let's get started....

First up is Calypso Gold.

Calypso Gold is a Champagne metallic leaning a little foil-ish. Because of that, this colour shows every imperfection on your nail *note my forever peeling index finger* I should have used some Ridge filler, That usually helps to cover it up. My polish was thick but still needed three coats. I also had a slightly dodgy brush but it was still useable. Also topped with one coat of SV.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway HERE, where the winner will receive 2 of the Barbados colours!

See you tomorrow!
