Aussie nails Monday - Stripes: Easter pastel stripes

Monday again!!!
It doesn't feel like Monday. Today was a holiday here in South Australia so i spent the day inside in the air con swatching and doing this mani as it was 40 degrees outside today!

This weeks theme is Stripes.

I went with something pastel because i wanted to tie it in with Easter coming up soon. I really love what i came up. I really didn't want to take it off!

I started off with 5 of my favourite pastels from the Face of Australia collection, Pastels, which they released towards the end of last year. Post here.

I used striping tape to achieve this look by taping off the parts i wanted to show through before using the same pastels, with a different colour on each nail. I also did varying widths on each nail.

Aussie Nails Monday - Saran wrap/cling wrap nails

I can't believe it's Monday again!! After skipping last Aussie nails Monday due to being sick, i thought i had better not miss this one and get my act together and start blogging again lol

Today, i bring you Saran wrap nails. Also known as Cling wrap or Glad wrap nails.

I used these two colours for today's mani.

I applied my base colour of Ulta3 Soft Hydrangea, and let it completely dry. I actually did the base colour last night and let it dry overnight as i can be pretty impatient lol
I then used my second colour, Lilac Bloom and gave it one generous coat. One nail at a time i dabbed a ball of Glad wrap over the wet polish to pick up some of the colour.

Although it is very subtle, i really like this for my first attempt.

What do you think??

Face of Australia Pastels collection: Swatches and review

Hi all!

Summer has hit Australia hard over the last few days..... well where i am anyway, not that i am complaining because i love the warm/hot weather, but it means i am late in posting these awesome polishes that were great for the Spring weather, not that we can't wear them still but i'm so looking forward to wearing more bright colours!!

As soon as i saw that Face of Australia had released a Pastel collection, i was all over that shit. I raced out to Kmart and bought the whole set. The pastels collection consists of 8 polishes, 6 cremes, 1pearl and 1 shimmer.... that's right, bet you didn't think there was a shimmer in there! But don't get too excited, it's so faint it's barely noticeable.

Anyway, onto the swatches...... Pic heavy i might add =)
These are in alphabetical order as that is what my computer decides to do...

After Dinner Mint - A pastel mint green. I love mint greens and this is no exception! Perfect in two coats.

Boy 'n Berries - A Lavender pastel. Two coats.

Castles On A Cloud - Lilac-grey Pastel.... with shimmer. This is the one with shimmer. In the light it is noticeable in the bottle but once on the nail, it just seemed to disappear! Click the images to make large and you can see it slightly. This was two coats.

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy - A bright?? pastel Yellow. If you can even have a bright pastel.... This is it. Probably my favourite yellow colour to date!! Wasn't the easiest to apply, just like a lot of yellows but this yellow is awesome and i can see myself wearing it alot! This was three coats.

Have Your Cupcake & Eat It Too - Lilac Pink pastel. This is also one of my favourites. This was two coats.

I'll Take You to the Candy Shop - My least favourite colour from the collection. Very soft pearly pink. Not really as streaky IRL as the pics show. This was three coats.

Once in a Blue Moon - Soft Eggshell Blue. Awesome colour. Two coats.

Would you like some Orange Sherbet? My second least favourite from the collection. I was really on a good streak with oranges until i hit this one! It's not bad but i'm not sure i like it with my skin tone. This was three coats.

Overall, I'm so so on this collection There are 5 i absolutely love and will wear again but the other 3 i don't like. I can live with that though, we can't like everything. I was disappointed with Castle on a Cloud as i really thought that would stand out the most to me with that awesome shimmer but it just wasn't there =( I think that disappointed the colour full stop for me as it looks awesome in the bottle.
My picks: After Dinner Mint, Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy, Boy 'n Berries, Once in a Blue Moon & Have your Cupcake & Eat It Too.

These were NOT sent for review. I paid for these myself.

Easter Mani #3: Pastels, Dots & a Bunny!

I have redeemed myself... to myself for yesterdays mani. After putting it up yesterday i felt bad because i hated it in the end. When i did it i thought it was ok but the longer i wore it the more i hated it. So i took it off last night and decided to do a mani to make up for it. I also forgot to mention yesterday that the whole thing was matte-ified with Essie's Matte about you.
Anyway, onto today's mani!

I am extremely happy with how they turned out. Love 'em! I was going to re-create yesterdays mani too but after i did this i couldn't bare take it off in a hurry! =)

Colours i used Thumb - Pinky:
Orly Gumdrop (one of my fav pastels ever)
Orly Lollipop
Orly Lemonade
Orly Snowcone (blue underneath rabbit)
Orly Cotton Candy
All dots done with a dotting tool and Ulta3 Lily White
Rabbit done with Orly Lollipop, Nose done with Orly Cotton Candy, Eyes done with Ulta3 Black Satin and Lily White (also inner fuzzy ear bits)
All topped off with SV quick dry top coat.

Hope you love these as much as i do! =)
See you next time! xo
