The Great Aussie Polish Challenge! Ulta3 Tuesday

Hi everyone!

My pal Nicole over at Epitome of Superficiality came up with an awesome idea to do an Aussie week following the awesomeness that was piCture pOlish's Blogfest yesterday. If you missed my post check it out here.
The first day of The Great Aussie Polish Challenge, for some was yesterday, those who didn't participate in blogfest 2012 and those who decided to add blogfest into their Aussie week. I decided to start mine today and will post each day until, and including Monday. Yay! I feel like i need a challenge to get me back into blogging more. So to kick it off today, today is Ulta3 Tuesday.
Ulta3 is known as a "drugstore" or pharmacy/chemist brand polish. It retails for $2 a pop. Cheapest polish you can buy in Australia just about! I find it fairly good quality too.

Anyway, onto today's Aussie polish.

This is Ulta3 Spellbound. This is part of their magnetic range. These retail for $5. Spellbound is black and silver with a very subtle blue and pink micro glitter. This was two coats. One coat i let dry and then i used the magnet on the wet second coat. No topcoat.

See you tomorrow everyone!!

piCture pOlish Blogfest 2012 - Amethyst & Orbit

Hi Everyone!
I am so excited to be a part of this, this year. Last year i missed out because i had only just started blogging. This year i was hoping that they were going to do it again, so as soon as i saw they were asking for bloggers i emailed them straight away. I got two polishes to review, Amethyst and Orbit.

piCture pOlish - Amethyst                         piCture pOlish - Orbit
Guards against intoxication                       The perfect travel partner

Amethyst up first.

Amethyst is part of a collaboration collection which was jointly created by piCture pOlish and Susan from Star Trinkets (their Singapore network member). Amethyst is a dark lavender purple with a subtle blue shimmer and glass flecks - basically a purple version of Denim. Formula was a little on the thick side, as it is with all their polishes, manageable though. This was two coats, no top coat.

Orbit is up next.

Orbit is a dark jelly-like purple packed full of silver micro glitter. It is not a metallic or a foil. This is part of their new "mesh" line. Again, formula was on the thick side but manageable. This was two coats with one coat of Seche Vite.

I decided to not stop there and do some nail art with both polishes. I have been really loving the interlocking design here i showed a few weeks ago, so i decided to do that again with these polishes.

It turned out awesome but the pics don't do it justice and for some reason it was hard to photograph. It was very shimmery and very shiny.

Both these shades, and all the new PP shades will be available from today directly from their website or a network member (please check the website to find out your nearest member). Amethyst is exclusively available from the PP website or Star Trinkets herself (Singapore network member). piCture pOlish also ships overseas from their website, or check out a network member as mentioned above.
If you want to keep updated with the release of each new polish and more swatches, check out piCture pOlish's Facebook page.

Products were sent to me for review

See you tomorrow everyone as i am continuing on into some more Australian polish with The Great Aussie Polish Challenge.

Glitter me up Friday - Glitter Gal Orange Sparkle

Hi all!
Sorry for the lack of posts in the last week, i think my last post was glitter friday too! I will definitely try to get more posts up this week, plus you don't want to miss out on what i have for you all on Monday!
But today i have yesterdays post to show you.

Tara over at osiris and loki paint their nails, came across some old Glitter Gal polishes that she scored for $1 & $2. She picked up a bunch of them and asked if anyone wanted to do a swap. I definitely emailed her straight away and we had a swap organised. I sent her package on Monday and she did the same. They both arrived to us on Thursday morning. I decided to do my nails in this orange one for today yesterday.

The label just says Orange but it's from Glitter Gal's Sparkle range. It is a peachy type orange with a holo micro glitter. This was two coats. I love glitter gal polishes. They are so easy to apply because their formula kicks arse! No topcoat was applied.

Glitter me up Friday - OPI My Pointe Exactly & Pirouette My Whistle

Hi everyone!

Another Friday has come and is almost gone..... which means it's the weekend!!! Yippee! O, It also means Glitter me up Friday. This is what i am wearing today!

Artificial Light

OPI My Pointe Exactly is a sheer grey jelly. This is from the OPI NYC Ballet Soft Shades collection, which is a bunch of sheers and a sparkly top coat. I am not big on sheer polishes but these seem to be really lovely and caught my eye. I only got this one and the sparkly top coat. I think i need the rest of the collection! I used 3 coats for photo's. No topcoat.

Shade

Artificial Light

I then added one coat of Pirouette My Whistle over My Pointe Exactly. PMW is big silver hex and micro glitter. Just beautiful.

Ozotic 513 - Pic spam!

Hi everyone!
I have my first Ozotic to show you today! Ozotic have decided to finish up on the 500 series, so i thought i'd grab a bunch of them from the piCture pOlish website before they are all gone.
We actually had a mostly sunny day here yesterday so i thought i'd take this opportunity to wear a holo.

This is 513.

513 is a stunning red based purple linear holo. This is gorgeous!!!!! I can't really fault this polish at all. It was perfect application in two easy peasy coats. I'm actually not wearing a top coat, not because it dulls it but i couldn't wait to get outside and take some photo's. I did put top coat (Seche) on after to see if it changed anything and it didn't at all, but i didn't get a photo. I'm so glad to call these Australian but i am terribly sad to see the 500 series go. =( If you don't have any, i seriously suggest you get some from an etailer if Picture Polish//Ozotic website is too expensive to ship where you are. Aussie's shame on you if you don't have any of these! haha Now for the rest of the photos!

Hope you loved this post as much as i did!
See you next tomorrow for Glitter Friday ( I hadn't planned on putting this post up but it's too awesome not to!!)

OPI La Paz-itively Hot - Matte

Hi all!

Today is a quick one. It's freezing here and late but i wanted to get this up today before going to bed =)

This is OPI's La Paz-itively Hot Matte.

LPHM is an awesome hot pink matte with a very subtle shimmer. This applied like a dream and in only two easy coats, Almost a one coater. Obviously i have not used a top coat but you could to make it shiny and make the shimmer stand out more.

I really like this colour for a pink! I could definitely see myself wearing this again, maybe with some stamping =)

That's all for tonight. I will see you Friday with Glitter me up Friday. This seems to come around very quickly haha

Interlocking nail art

Hi all!

I have some nail art for you all today! I haven't done any nail art in a while and i was excited to finally try this. I have seen this around the nail blogging scene a few times now and I love how it came out. I will definitely be doing variations of this in the future.

I used two colours from the "You" cosmetics brand which you can find in most Terry White Chemists here in Australia, they retail for $2.99 each. I picked up a few to try and am definitely heading back for more. They have an awesome formula and opaque in two coats. You could get away with one coat of the purple if your lucky (i used two) Unfortunately these don't have names, just numbers. The Purple is Shade 002 and the Teal is 005.

I started with alternating the colours on each finger, like in the swatch picture above. I waited until it was fully dry (i actually did this the night before as i am impatient haha) I then used tape, any kind is fine and taped off my nails diagonally from one corner to the next in the top part. I used the other colour and painted the rest of each nail (two coats again), peeling off the tape straight after the second coat. I then got out my dotting tool and using one of the big "dots" i dotted one colour on the joining line, about the same sized dot apart, then used the other colour on the other side of the line in-between the gaps. I hope that all makes sense. Let dry for a few minutes and then i added one coat of Seche Vite quick dry.
Next time i try this i will try and make a tutorial for it =)

Excuse my crappy dry cuticles in this awful winter weather.

Hope you enjoy! What colour combination would you like to see next?

See you soon!

Calling all Indie polish makers!!

Hi all!
I have come up with an idea that i'd love to do to help some Indie polish makers along. I know there are a tonne of big indie polish makers out there but what about the smaller ones? We all love Indie polishes right now, right?

I am going to be doing an Aussie Indie polish reviews month, for the month of August. If your an aussie polish maker who wants more exposure and would love me to review your polish/es, this is for you. I'd also love to have a giveaway (open internationally) at the end of the month to win your polishes etc.

International polish makers are also welcome, i may open this up to worldwide if i don't think i can get enough aussie's interested. Or i may even have another one run in the following month.

If your interested please let me know by emailing me at kelly@kellyskolors.com

I'd love to hear from you!

Glitter me up Friday - Indie brand Love Thy Polish review!

Hi everyone!
I have a combined post for you today. I have review on a fellow Aussie bloggers line of nail polish, Love Thy Polish. The awesome Emma from Nails in the Desert offered to send me a couple to review. This one fits in perfectly with Glitter me up Friday so i have combined them both today =).

This particular one is only new and doesn't actually have a name yet, so head on over to her Facebook page and make a suggestion as to what she could call it and also to check out her awesome polishes!

This has a green-blue jelly base with aqua and magenta small glitter. This was three coats alone. It was a quite sheer in the first coat but built up nicely by the third which i was (pleasantly) surprised. Application was good, a little runny to start with but was manageable. One coat of Seche vite on top.

I then thought i could try it over a few different colours. First i tried Black and then Blue.

Here this was one coat layered over my go-to one coater black, Ulta3 Black Satin. I didn't think of it until i put it together but it reminds me of Butter London The Black Knight.

And this time i have it layered (again one coat) over two coats of Ulta3 Blue Marlin.

I like how they came out on all of them. Which one is your favourite?
You can purchase this polish (and others) from Emma's Facebook page for $9/ 15ml bottle. She also ships internationally. So go check her out and tell her i sent you =)

Product sent to me for review

Glitter Me Up Friday - Savina Fireworks

Hi all!
I feel so slack lately! I'm so behind in this. I had it all ready to go and i just had to post it up last night but i didn't! So slack!

Anyway, onto yesterdays Glitter me up Friday post.

This was two thinnish coats of Savina Fireworks over two coats of Essence Raspberry Swirl. Fireworks has lots of small multi-coloured round glitter and sparse holo bar glitter. It was hard to get the bar glitter out of the bottle but there seems to be a lot in there.
I then also tried this over black. Everything works better over black haha
